Company History

Building in the 21st Century

Much has changed since Team Construction Management began building and renovating houses in Westbank in 1975. If founder, David Wilson were around today, he would see a business that has been transformed by new technologies, construction methods, project types, and safety practices. We like to think that Team has grown into one of the leading construction firms in the Southern Interior of BC. One that has completed many unique and challenging projects.

Among all that is new, David Wilson would find one thing unchanged: Team’s commitment to building creative solutions, value, and relationships. Our mantra, “working together…winning together” clearly defines our core belief that we can only succeed if our customers achieve their goals.

Team’s experience spans a wide array of project types. We have never specialized in a particular market, simply because our work has been driven by the needs of the community. Gordon Wilson Founder

Gord has deep roots in the construction business – an early apprenticeship began at age eleven working summers on his father’s construction projects. Gord’s passion for creating and building unique, carefully crafted structures is a hallmark of his over forty years experience in the construction field. His mandate to stay abreast of technology lays the foundation of innovation and creativity to solve the never-ending challenges faced in construction.

Chad, while avidly maintaining his duty as senior project manager, has proudly moved into the president role at Team. Chad joined the company in 2010 after relocating from Denver, CO.  Now making Kelowna his home, Chad brings with him 25 years of experience working with a large international contractor as well as several small to medium sized companies in Houston and Denver on projects up to 280 million in value.  Chad works with the entire project team, the client, architect, sub trades and suppliers to create a seamless construction process. Chad has been involved in many local award winning commercial and residential projects and is currently working on one of Team’s most complex building projects.

Charles (Chuck) Cullen Project Manager
Charles (Chuck) Cullen Project Manager

Chuck’s career with TEAM began in the late 1980’s. During his early years with TEAM he worked on his carpenter’s apprenticeship, achieving his Journeyman certification in 1993. Since that time, Chuck has participated in many levels of leadership within the company, from carpenter foreman to his current position as a Senior Project Manager. Chuck’s excellent interpersonal skills build strong relationships with our clients and allowed him to lead the Canadian Home Builders Association of Kelowna through two separate terms as President.

We are excited to welcome David, who has most recently joined our team in 2017. David has demonstrated a passion and commitment for the past twenty years to the craft of project management with a successful track record and list of accomplishments ranging from apartment complexes, hotels, pools/ recreation centres to air traffic control towers. David believes in doing it right the first time and with his proven track record, we look forward to him carrying this forward with our TEAM.

Tony Duarte Superintendent

Tony’s excellent communication skills really show on his well run jobsites. Tony has been a part of the Team for over 20 years and is also a red seal carpenter. Working his way up through the ranks, he has been running projects as superintendent for the past several years. Passionate about his work and the project, his attention to the details are what make his work stand out and provide the customer with reassurance that their best interests are well in hand.

Carl Wright Superintendent

Carl is a project superintendent and has been with Team for over 20 years. He is a journeyman carpenter by trade and his passion for building and organization is exemplified on his tidy and well run jobsites. Carl got started in the construction industry when he was right out of high school.  The path from design to paper to detailed drawings, to the physical structure is intriguing to Carl. He loves being able to drive through the Okanagan and point out all the beautiful buildings he has been charged with constructing.

Mike has worked with Team Construction for the past 4 years now and is also a red seal journeyman carpenter. Working his way up through the ranks, he has been running projects as superintendent for the past year. Currently running the Cedar Creek Winery project, Mike’s attention to detail is second to none. His calm demeanor is an asset that allows him to make good rational decisions in a very fast paced work environment.

Dale leads TEAM’s Millwork and Joinery Division – his extensive background in every aspect of this very specialized area of construction, ensures every TEAM project will have finish carpentry and cabinet making built to the highest standard. Whether the work is a one-off custom piece or classic production millwork, Dale will produce it with exacting care and precise execution.

Bonnie Schur Administration
Bonnie Schur Administration

Bonnie is one of two bookkeepers responsible for all accounting operations at TEAM Construction Management. She has over 20 years experience in construction accounting and business operations. She is constantly improving and streamlining our systems to gain efficiencies in data entry and job cost systems. Her supportive role to the project managers ensures that monthly reporting is completed and provided to our customers in a timely manner.

Jill Kronebusch Project Coordinator
Jill Kronebusch Project Coordinator

Jill plays a crucial role in our day to day operations – lending support to all Project Managers. Her exceptional organizational skills allow her to manage subcontracts, purchase orders, drawing logs and meeting minutes on multiple projects. Jill also has experience with LEED enabled projects and has coordinating all LEED aspects of the Karis Central Green project. Jill’s energy and dedication are invaluable assets towards the smooth operation of our TEAM.

Steve Brown Information Technology

Steve joined TEAM eight years ago to manage the IT functions of the company. Steve is responsible for the maintenance of the company’s computer infrastructure and network, including all hardware and software requirements, managing cell phone and iOS devices as well as printers and VHF radio equipment. Steve also manages all data back-up strategies and provides support to all jobsites.

Mark is Team’s – Construction Safety Officer (CSO) and is a member of the ASTTBC Technology Professionals.

Mark is responsible for setting the high standard of Occupational Health and Safety that TEAM is well known for in our industry. Mark’s responsibilities involve monitoring and proactively managing jobsite safety and to set company policy on safety for the health and well-being of our employees and others that work on TEAM’S jobsites. In addition to his duties with TEAM, Mark is an active member of the ASTTBC Technology Professionals.

Shauneen Hicks Bookkeeper

Shauneen recently joined our team as a bookkeeping professional.  She comes to us via Al Stober Group of Companies and brings close to 20 years of accounting and payroll administration experience, we are extremely excited to have her aboard.

Deb Raincock Project Coordinator

Deb has experience with many types of projects ranging from large multi-family complexes and custom single family homes, to health clinics and schools. With a good portion of her career spent working directly on site, Deb has a strong understanding and appreciation for the differences in the requirements of each team member: Superintendent, Sub trade, Owner, and Architect. Deb enjoys the rapport of these long-term working relationships, as well as the challenges each project can bring

William Mastop Project Coordinator
William Mastop Project Coordinator

William’s hands on approach to organizing the many layers of drawings and specifications makes him a key member of our team on the Naramata project. In addition to this, William is also responsible for maintaining all of the projects site safety records and coordination of these items with Team’s own forces labour, project subcontractors and the company’s CSO . William has a very strong understanding of the relationships between our team and its partners on the project, which is a great benefit for keeping a complex project on track.

Team Construction provides General Contracting services for a wide range of project types and sizes using highly qualified and experienced teams of site supervisory and project management personnel plus field personnel. Our staff utilizes industry-leading estimating, project management, scheduling and accounting software. We also utilize prequalified subtrades who understand and comply with our high standards for safety and quality assurance. Other features of Team’s General Contracting delivery format include:

  • Early procurement of key building materials and long lead time items.
  • Wide range of company and affiliated company equipment to support construction operations.
  • Well-defined close out procedures.
  • Systems to compile project information, warranty and maintenance manuals in a simple easy to understand format.

Using this approach, Team Construction Management acts in the capacity of agent for the owner/client rather than as an independent contractor. With this arrangement, the owner engages the trade contractors directly and thereby assumes much of the role and responsibility of the traditional general or prime contractor. Together with the consultants, we form a Construction Management Team, which works together from the pre-construction phase through to the completion of the project. Team Construction Management serves as your advisor and agent, providing site management and administrative and technical services solely for your benefit.

Team Construction has completed many interior renovations, fit-ups and leasehold improvements throughout the Okanagan area and beyond. Some of our clients include Re/Max, Interior Savings Credit Union, BC Tree Fruits, Riverside Forest Products, Pacifica Papers, Mission Hill, Salvation Army and Spider Manufacturing. We have also completed a wide range of doctor’s offices, medical labs and restaurants. We understand the time constraints and scheduling challenges these types of projects can often present. Our Team can tailor a construction program to suit the unique characteristics of your project.
